Bucks kids can rule the world

Buxton's community coaches say their upcoming February half-term football camps will climax with a World Cup style tournament.

Running from Monday 18 February until Thursday 21 February and organised by 'Bucks in the Community', the four day holiday scheme is aimed at boys and girls aged 5-14 and costs £40 or £10 per day.

The camps are set to take place at nearby Harpur Hill Primary School and will include a range of different footballing activities including sharp shooting, crossbar challenges, goalkeeping sessions and street soccer, all culminating on the final day with a tournament. Buxton's players and coaches will also be on hand to meet youngsters taking part and hand out prizes and trophies at the end of the week.

Buxton Community Coach Chris Hill said: "It's great that these camps are returning after the success of last Easter and summer. We're all excited that our local football club is providing provision like this for the local community.

"It's very much for us, by us and we look forward to introducing the club to the next generation of Buxton FC supporters. We're also looking forward to working with the coaches from the University of Derby once again together with Harpur Hill School who are again providing excellent facilities."

* Buxton are appealing to their fans to help clear Silverlands of tons of snow and ice this weekend so one of their most lucrative fixtures of the season can go ahead.

The Bucks are due to host FC United of Manchester on Saturday week and fear the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division clash between the play-off chasing sides and the huge gate it is expected to generate, will be in jeopardy if the cold snap continues.

To beat the freeze, the club is asking supporters not travelling to back the Bucks at Worksop's Sandy Lane this Saturday to turn up at Silverlands with shovels from 10am to help starting clearing the ground.
