Bucks lifeline for Hibs star

By David Watters

Buxton

Former Nottingham Forest and Hibs midfielder Matt Thornhill has signed for Buxton.

Bucks manager Martin McIntosh has given the 24-year-old a chance to resurrect his career in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division after his contract north of the border was terminated by Hibernian.

Thornhill is available for Saturday's Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division clash with Kendal at Silverlands and is free to join their FA Trophy campaign on Saturday week at Conference Premier Grimsby Town in the First Round.

Nottingham-based Thornhill made thirty-eight appearances for Forest, scoring five times, and was part of the team that won promotion from the First Division in 2008.

The midfielder enjoyed loan spells at Brighton and Cheltenham before joining Hibernian mid-way through the 2011-12 campaign. He spent twelve months at Easter Road, making fourteen appearances for the Scottish Premier League outfit.
