Teen striker set for league debut

Newcastle Town

Injury-ravaged Newcasle Town could throw teenage striking sensation Callum Kenny into Saturday's clash against Loughborough Dynamo.

The Evo-Stik NPL First Division South side's manager John Diskin has included the 16-year-old in his squad after he made his club debut on Tuesday night in their 2-0 Staffordshire Senior Cup defeat at home to Chasetown.

Kenny boasts a prolific scoring record in junior football and helped Castle win the Sentinel Shield in May. Another member of Newcastle's youth set-up, winger Josh Gordon, could also be promoted to make his league debut as Diskin struggles to find cover for the home game against Dynamo.

Diskin said: "We've got one or two very talented lads in our youth team and I'm keen to give them a chance. We had eight first teamers missing on Tuesday, but gave a good account of ourselves."
