Colne chairman Ryan Haigh was heading to Pendle Council ahead of the weekend's action to get councillors behind their dream after unveiling the EVO-STIK League North club's vision for the future of their Holt House home to a packed meeting of supporters on Wednesday night.
The ambitious proposals to redevelop the Utility Renewals Stadium include buying the freehold of the site before building a new access road, laying a new 3G surface and erecting four stands around a 5,000 capacity facility.
Filmed for fans who couldn't attend the meeting and released on YouTube on Thursday before his appearance before the council's executive committee, Haigh made an impassioned plea to upgrade the facilities at the home of the former North West Counties Football League champions alongside manager Steve Cunningham and senior players Alex Coleman and Simon Nangle.
Blueprint: Phase 5 of the club's plans
Thursday night's council meeting was also due to be filmed and club officials are urging supporters to back plans that will benefit their entire community, young and old.
A spokesman said: "Whilst these plans are ambitious, the club believes they are attainable and sustainable for a brighter future at Colne Football Club. With hundreds of children representing the club at all ages, we believe these facilities would be ideal to help progress the future of our local children.
"Not just football, either. Chairman Ryan Haigh spoke passionately with regards an educational aspect at the club, giving the youth the opportunity to continue their education in sport, whilst playing at a top class sports facility."
