Carruthers challenges his leaders

Basford United boss Martin Carruthers is challenging his EVO-STIK League leaders to remain unbeaten for the rest of the year.

Carruthers, pictured in touchline mode, has thrown down the gauntlet to his runaway EVO-STIK League South leaders as they prepare to kick-off a Christmas programme of four games in ten days with a trip to Stockbridge Park Steels on Saturday.

Still unbeaten in the league and currently 18 points clear, United are then at home to Carlton Town on Boxing Day and Corby Town the following Saturday before making the short trip to Loughborough Dynamo on New Year's Day.

Carruthers said: “The challenge to our players is to remain unbeaten for the rest of the year and then we will set new targets for 2018. The next three games could not have been any tougher by playing three of the form sides in the league and our local rivals Carlton who never make things easy for us."
