Casswell: Blues should take nothing for granted

Leek Town manager Lee Casswell has praised his Blues for their 4-0 win at Brigg Town on Saturday but warned that nobody’s place in his line-up is safe as they enter the final weeks of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaign, writes Michael Cope.

After beating the Zebras 4-1 at Harrison Park two weeks ago, Casswell was delighted to see his First Division South promotion-chasers complete a league double and also hailed the club's travelling support in Lincolnshire.

Speaking after their fourth win on the spin, Casswell said: "It’s always difficult against sides scrapping for survival with 10 men behind the ball but in the end we came away with a 4-nil win. Tim Grice was on target again, his fourth in as many games, and they couldn’t handle Ben Mills when he came on.

"Mills’ contribution last Tuesday and at Brigg on Saturday was immense and leaves us with some big decisions to make – we’ve got to make sure we get our team selection right over the remaining games.

"After a goalless first half we emphasised at half time we had to be patient - in the first half there were too many balls played back rather than trying to open them up. It was a good team effort by all the players but Dan Shelley got in some great positions and is now back in the grove.

"I was also very pleased to see so many Leek faces behind the goal at the game - their support was tremendous and was appreciated by all the management team and the players."

* Midfield dynamo Anthony Danylyk was set to see an orthopaedic appointment on Monday for treatment on the dislocated finger he suffered at Chasetown.

A cast is set to be fitted after x-rays showed that a bone in the back of his hand was broken. The injury failed to keep Danylyk out of the side at Brigg at the weekend and he is still expected to face Lincoln United at Harrison Park on Wednesday night.
