Champagne's on ice for Karl

FC United of Manchester manager Karl Marginson insists he's holding off from celebrating his first managerial accolade of the season until the final week of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaign.

Marginson, pictured being presented with February's Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division Manager of the Month Award by League Representative John Beaumont, was honoured after his side won five on the spin last month. Before popping any champagne however, he wants to see where his promotion-chasing side end up and reckons that it his players and backroom staff, plus FCUM's army of volunteers, who should be the ones celebrating as winning the personal award was all down to team effort.

He said: "I'm delighted to get this award but it's really down to the efforts of everyone involved with the club - players, back room staff and our volunteers - who help us week-in, week-out. Anything we achieve on the pitch at FC is always a team effort and this award is no exception.

"I also know that one month doesn't make a season so, while it's good to be recognised, what we need to do now is kick on until the end of the season and see where we are then."

Like February's other winners - Skelmersdale United's Tommy Lawson who picked up a remarkable fourth managerial award of the season and King's Lynn Town's Gary Setchell who collected his second, Marginson was presented with an inscribed certificate recording his achievement and personalised items from the Errea benchwear range by the Evo-Stik NPL and sponsors Bostik, the parent company of league title sponsors Evo-Stik.

FCUM are currently fifth in the final play-off berth after bouncing back from a dip in form earlier this month after taking maximum points in February to regnite their promotion hopes. They face Kendal away on Easter Saturday followed by Stocksbridge Park Steels at home on Monday and are aiming to recapture February's form that saw them secure away wins at Buxton, Frickley and Marine and home victories over Ilkeston FC and AFC Fylde.
