Champions in charity clash for Mencap

Chorley

Fans of Evo-Stik Northern Premier League champions Chorley are hoping a local charity will be the only winner later this month when they take on their opposite numbers at Manchester United.

To raise funds for Chorley and District Mencap, AFC Chorley are taking on Manchester United Supporters FC at Victory Park on Saturday 17 May.

The Magpies supporters side are hoping the local community gets behind them as the club celebrates promotion and are laying on a series of attractions to help boost the gate including ‘Beat the Goalie’ and the ‘Crossbar Challenge’, made famous by Sky Sports’ hit show Soccer AM.

The Magpies will be guided by fan James Wilson. He said: "I thought it was only fitting to finish the season with a game against the fans of Manchester United.

"Over the last few seasons AFC Chorley have always joined in with the club and helped raise money for charities and this year is no different, with all profits going to Chorley Mencap."

"I hope the fans of Chorley FC get behind us and help make it a great success. The team has worked hard over the last few years and we are now starting to see some good football being played. At the end of the day the winners are Chorley Mencap and we hope to make as much money for them as possible."

Kick-off is 2pm with admission set at £2 for adults with U14s going free. A commemorative programme will be on sale priced at £1.
