Champions signing senior stars

Cleethorpes Town became the latest EVO-STIK League club to embrace Walking Football on Wednesday.

The 2017 Northern Counties East League champions and promotion-chasing EVO-STIK League South club's officials teamed up with the Lincolnshire FA to launch their first sessions of the slower-paced version of the beautiful game aimed at the over 50s.

The Owls - who are following in the footsteps of host of other league clubs hosting Walking Football including Stamford and Loughborough Dynamo - staged the first session at their old ground at the Linden Homes Club which is currently being refurbished for their return next season.

To celebrate the initiative, all the players who turned out were given free tickets to see their Lincolnshire Senior Trophy quarter-final with Winterton Rangers on Wednesday night at their temporary base at The Bradley Football Development Centre in Grimsby.

Designed to help people keep up an active lifestyle and socialise, as the name suggests, Walking Football is non-contact and anyone who sprints, runs or jogs while the ball is in play is penalised.
