Champions strengthen up front

Stafford Rangers manager Neil Kitching has snapped up striker George Bowermen for the upcoming 2016-17 EVO-STIK Northern Premier League season.

Kitching added the 24-year-old to his squad on Monday as his EVO-STIK NPL First Division South champions prepare to return to the top flight next month.

Bowerman arrived at Marston Road after leaving National League North side Altrincham following their relegation.

The forward kicked off his career with Walsall, making 50 appearances after coming through the academy at the League One club. After a spell on loan with Redditch United, he was released by the Saddlers and briefly signed for Woking before returning to the Football League with Accrington Stanley.

He moved on to Altrincham in July 2015 and scored five goals in 28 games before going out on loan National League North AFC Telford United in January 2016, an arrangement initially cut short when he was offered a trial by Major League Soccer outfit Orlando City.
