Championship challenge for Gaghan

The 31-year-old is pictured with new Colwyn Bay manager and former Warrington boss Paul Moore at Llanelian Road after signing for the Seagulls over the weekend.

Gaghan scored 88 goals in 250 appearances for the EVO-STIK NPL First Division North champions and was one of their key players last season.

Colwyn Bay's fans will remember Gaghan scoring a last gasp injury time equaliser to prevent them beating Warrington in the FA Cup in 2014. After winning the replay, the Yellows went on a money-spinning run, including securing a famous 1-0 victory over Exeter City in the first round proper in front of millions watching the BBC's first live FA Cup match since 2008.

Gaghan said: "It was a tough decision to leave after some great times at Warrington, but I am really looking forward to the new season and a new challenge.

"I know Paul [Moore] and Phil [assistant manger Phil Hadland] well and if we get the right mix of players then I am sure we can have a good season. I wouldn't have come here if I thought I would be in a struggling side."

Gaghan's Warrington teammate Louis Corrigan has also joined the North Wales club for a second spell as Moore puts together his squad to win promotion after two successive relegations.

The former Tranmere Rovers defender played 12 games in Bay's promotion winning 2009-10 campaign under then manager Neil Young before being hit by injury.

Other Bay signings in recent days include defender George Mannion from Prescot Cables, Rhys Bowers from Warrington and Kidsgrove midfielder Will Booth who helped Cheshire Youth win the FA County Youth Cup last year.
