Chasetown make triple signing

Chasetown have made three new signings as their squad continues to take shape ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Midfielder Tom Turton, goalkeeper Matt Sargeant and the versatile Luke McGinnell have all signed deals with the now-Pitching In NPL West Division side.

Turts joins the club from last season's NPL Midlands Division play-off winners Halesowen Town.

Likewise, Sargeant is another who tasted promotion last year with Tamworth in the Southern League.

The shot-stopper boasts Alvechurch and Leamington amongst his former clubs, as well as having a previous spell with Chasetown.

McGinnell, meanwhile, returns for the new season having spent part of last year at Loughborough Dynamo.

Discussing his new arrivals, manager Mark Swann said: “We spoke to Tom last summer and are over the moon to get him over the line.

"His career has been littered with promotions, having been successful with Sutton and Halesowen via the play-offs, and securing back to back promotions with Alvechurch.

"His pedigree speaks for itself and his experience and know-how will be a huge asset to us, as well as his obvious ability.

“We are pleased to bring Sarg in. He has always been a very good keeper and has played at higher levels. The timing was good for all parties.

"Although he achieved promotion with Tamworth, it was refreshing to hear that his priority was to be playing week in week out.

"We have always kept in touch [with Luke McGinnell] and when we knew he might be interested in a return, there was certainly no hesitation from us to bring him back to the club.

"His versatility is a manager's dream as he is accomplished at centre half, full back or in midfield.

"We are delighted to have him back in blue for this season."
