Councillor Anne Underwood has agreed to be at Coles Lane on Saturday 7 October when the Royals host Lancaster City in the EVO-STIK League's top flight after a personal invitation from club president and long-serving former secretary Bill Worship.
Worship and the rest of the club's volunteers and officials are looking forward to hosting a fixture on Non-League Day for the first time ever and are planning to pull out the stops in front of their civic guest who is also their local councillor.
Non-League Day, one of the biggest events on the football calendar promoting the Non-League game, returns for an eighth consecutive season during next weekend's international break.
NLD's official charity Prostate Cancer UK, along with the EVO-STIK League's official charity Sports Traider and a host of other charities and good causes connected to clubs and leagues around the country, are set to benefit once again from bucket collections and the charity fundraising efforts of fans.
Sports Traider are asking fans around the EVO-STIK League to support the charity's mission on Non-League day 2017 after staging a successful 'Donate a £1' campaign last March.
The day kicks off a season of fundraising and collections of unwanted kit and sporting equipment to help more disadvantaged children and young people in the UK fulfill their sporting potential, whatever their background, ability or disability.
