Coasters bank cup windfall

AFC Fylde are celebrating a five figure windfall following the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's run to the First Round of the FA Cup last season.

The Coasters' FA Cup exploits may have ended with defeat to Accrington Stanley but the Premier Division outfit are £11,313 richer after announcing on Tuesday that they'd picked up their share of the FA Cup's Pool Scheme.

Along with the 31 other victorious Non-League clubs in the FA Cup's Fourth Qualifying Round, they are sharing in a kitty generated by a five per cent levy on gate receipts from replays in the First Round and latter stages of the competition.

The Coasters have the likes of Premier League sides Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea to thank for cash injection. All three sides were among those who hosted replays last season to boost the fund to its highest ever total.

Having amassed £27,500 from progressing through four rounds of the competition last season, the additional £11,313 means that the Coasters' Cup run generated a grand total of £38,813 from prize money alone.
