Community role could offer way back

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Leek Town will offer defender Matt Bradbury a way back into football after confirming fears that he'll never play again after his double leg break.

The defender spent almost a week in hospital to piece together his shattered lower leg and ankle, sustained while playing under dual registration for Eccleshall against Formby in the North West Counties Football League two weeks ago on Saturday.

The First Division South's Blues were beating Altrincham in the FA Trophy on the same day to book this weekend's clash with Hungerford in the competition's second round and everyone at Harrison Park has wished the likeable 33-year-old a speedy recovery after what is now expected to be a career ending injury.

The former Newcastle Town, Market Drayton Town and Stone Dominoes player has already expressed his desire to continue in football in some capacity, and manager Lee Casswell, who is 'gutted' for him, has told Blues officials that he believes Bradbury's future could involve a role in the club's rapidly expanding community projects.
