Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Ashton United are on the lookout for a new groundsman or woman.
The Premier Division’s Robins, 1-0 winners over Nantwich Town on Wednesday night, believe the role preparing the surface for matches at Hurst Cross, pictured, and generally keeping the ground in good condition, would be ideally suited to retired or semi-retired people. The club's officials say they’d also be pleased to consider two or more individuals volunteering as a group in support of a groundsperson.
A spokesman said: "If they are strong, fit, and enjoy working outdoors and keeping things neat and tidy, this role might well appeal to them. They would need good practical skills to operate machinery and be reasonably flexible for working, dependent upon the fixture list, although the club would be pleased to work closely with the right individuals to mutual benefit."
