Congratulations to our flag-bearers!

Congratulations to Stourbridge on keeping the flag proudly flying for the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League in the Emirates FA Cup on Monday night with a 3-0 win over Whitehawk.

The Glassboys struck three second half goals to knock out the National League South side and bank £18,000 in prize money and a 2pm kick-off against League One Northampton Town at Amblecote in the second round on Sunday 4 December.

Chris Lait put Gary Hackett's side ahead in front of the crowd of 1,993 at The War Memorial Ground for the replay with a fierce left-foot shot. Lait was denied by the visiting keeper in the build up to their second, earning an assist instead when Luke Benbow drilled in the rebound from the edge of the box. Benbow sealed the tie in the 76th minute with a curling fee-kick.

Victory for Hackett, pictured with the Emirates FA Cup, rubbed salt in the wounds of their Sussex visitors who thought they'd won the tie with a late winner in Brighton 10 days previously, only for the referee to rule out substitute Javier Favarel's 30-yard strike as he had just blown for full-time.

If the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club can beat the Cobblers, they'll bank another £27,000 in prize money and a place in the draw for the third round and the chance to be paired with a Premier League giant. On their way to the second round they've already knocked out Peterborough Sports, Mickleover Sports, Ilkeston FC and Nantwich Town.

Midlands League Westfields, previously the lowest ranked club left in the world's oldest cup competition, went out on Monday night after they lost 3-1 in their replay with former EVO-STIK NPL club Curzon Ashton at the Tameside Stadium.
