Corby land versatile defender

Corby Town have announced the signing of Charley Sanders from Bedford Town.

Sanders, 27, links back up with manager Gary Setchell, with the pair working together during their time at King's Lynn Town in 2014 and Bedford Town in 2020.

Known for his versatility, the centre-back has scored seven times this season for Bedford Town, being deployed as a centre forward on multiple occasions.

He has previously featured for clubs such as Histon, Spalding United, Huntington Town, Grantham Town and Yaxley.

On his new acquisition, Steelmen manager Gary Setchell said: "I’m delighted to have signed Charlie again. He has played for me at various clubs since he was 18 , obviously last season he was a major player in what we achieved at Beford, scoring 11 goals from centre half in our championship winning season.

"Charlie can also operate as a centre forward just as effectively, it’s a real big signing in every sense of the word for the run in."

Corby Town sit three points below a play-off spot, and will host Spalding United at home on Saturday.
