Defender makes Carlton switch

Carlton Town have announced the signing of Owen Betts from Basford United.

The 22-year-old defender joined Basford in 2020 after being released from Notts County.

Betts featured heavily for the Magpies' U23s side, before making a senior appearance in the FA Trophy at Meadow Lane.

He has also enjoyed loan spells at Dover Athletic and Worksop Town.

On his new signing, Carlton Town joint-manager Mark Harvey said: "Owen is proven defensive player who has played a lot of games this season at Step 3. I’m delighted to get this over the line for our run in.

"I would also like to place on record my thanks to mark Clifford and Chris Munroe at Basford United for helping us get this deal sorted."

Betts will go into contention for Carlton Town's next game away at Ossett United on Saturday.
