Cup cash and glory await after draw

By David Watters

The winners of the Integro Doodson Cup Final can look forward to banking an end of season cheque for £2000 from the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League.

The prize fund was confirmed ahead of Thursday's draw for the second round which saw 35 clubs go into hat after this week's first round action left four ties to be decided in replays.

Like last season, losing finalists will collect £1000 with losing semi-finalists banking £500. Clubs reaching the quarter-finals receive £250.

Holders Warrington Town lifted their first silverware in over a decade at Stockport County's Edgeley Park last April, pictured, when they beat Farsley AFC 3-2 on penalties.

To progress this season, Shaun Reid's side must first overcome Premier Division Marine in a replay for the right to take on Ramsbottom United at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium.

After knocking out EVO-STIK NPL newcomers Shaw Lane Aquaforce in a 2-0 win at Throstle Nest on Tuesday night, Farsley Celtic were rewarded with another home draw, Stocksbridge Park Steels in one of the 16 ties scheduled to start kicking off in the week commencing Monday 30 November.

In one of only two all Premier Division clashes, Stamford under newly appointed manager Graham Drury will host Buxton at the Zeeco Stadium with Halesowen Town at home to Sutton Coldfield Town in the other all top flight tie.

Trafford fans among the bumper crowd of 998 at Moor Lane on Tuesday night to see their side beat Salford City 2-1 to go through, can expect plenty of company at Shawe View after drawing another team on a run in the FA Cup, First Division North leaders Northwich Victoria.

All the second round ties are to be played to a conclusion with penalties to decide a winner if the scores are level after 90 minutes.
