Cup kings collect civic honour

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Stourbridge have added a civic award to the long list of accolades they picked up during their record-breaking run in the Emirates FA Cup.

The Glassboys, who collected more than £100,000 on their run to the third round and many admirers as the lowest ranked side left in the competition, were honoured for their exploits at last Friday night's Mayor of Dudley Civic Awards when chairman Andy Poutney collected a special award on behalf of Gary Hackett's cup kings.

The EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club's chairman told fans this week that they could look forward to seeing the benefits of the incredible run for years to come after their victory over League One Northampton Town on a memorable night at the War Memorial Ground before going out at Wycombe Wanderers.

Poutney, who picked up the Duncan Edwards Award, said: “From a football perspective, we are delighted that off the back of the cup we have put an extra 200 on the gate every week. The profile we got was huge and we are hoping to use that to push us to the next level.”
