Cup win is first step for skipper

Farsley Celtic captain Aaron Hardy has his sights firmly set on promotion after the league leaders became the first EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club to win silverware this season.

Hardy, who lifted the West Riding County Cup On Tuesday night after Paul Walker struck the winning penalty in a 4-2 shoot-out win over Tadcaster Albion after drawing 1-1 with their EVO-STIK NPL First Division North rivals, believes the victory in the final can only help the Throstle Nest outfit hold their nerve in the quest for promotion.

Speaking before Saturday's 2-2 draw at Colwyn Bay kept Neil Parsley and John Deacey's side two point clear at the top, the skipper said: “It’s a good win for us, it could have gone either way. Full credit to Tadcaster, it was a good night, plenty turned up. We knew a lot about each other so to win it on penalties was great. It keeps our momentum up and we are top of the league as well.”
