Dabbers hot-shot Aaron Burns left the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League to sign for Conference North Chorley on Thursday.

The former Altrincham, Ashton United, Marine, Northwich Victoria and FC United of Manchester striker, pictured, was in his second spell at the Weaver Stadium and had been attracting the interest of a number of Conference clubs having scored seven goals in his last eight outings to climb to second in the Premier Division's goal-scoring charts.

Burns originally joined the Dabbers in 2013, moving from Ashton United to south Cheshire along with manager Danny Johnson to score 28 goals in all competitions before leaving to join Marine last summer. The former Manchester United youth team player made a quick return in September and had scored 15 goals so far – his last coming at home to Workington AFC.

In a statement announcing the 27-year-old's departure for the Magpies and Victory Park, Burns paid tribute to Dabbers fans.

He told Nantwich Town's website: "I would like to say thank you [to the fans] for the great support. For me personally, it means a lot. They were a contributing factor in my return in September and I will miss everyone involved at Nantwich.

"It wasn’t a decision I took lightly but felt it was the right opportunity for me and too good to turn down."

Other highlights for Burns this season include becoming the first player to score a goal at Stamford’s Zeeco Stadium on 13 December. He went on to score a second in the 2-2 to complete the third of four braces for the Dabbers in the current campaign.

A Dabbers spokesman said: "Everyone connected with Nantwich Town would like to wish Aaron all the best at his new club."
