Deadline day for final candidates

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Matlock Town have set a midweek deadline for candidates to apply for the vacant manager's post at the Autoworld Arena.

After receiving a 'large number' of applications already to succeed Mark Atkins, Gladiators officials have announced a final closing date of Wednesday (15 October) for any final candidates to contact chief executive Keith Brown.

Former Chesterfield and Alfreton Town manager Dave Rushbury and veteran midfielder and coach Martin Foster were appointed as joint caretaker managers last week following the departure of Atkins after six years at the helm.

The 46-year-old resigned after last Saturday's 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Halesowen Town and after losing 2-1 at Grantham Town on Tuesday night, Rusbury and Foster guided the Gladiators to a 3-1 win at Witton Albion.
