Defender set for delayed debut

North Ferriby United

Defender Paul Robson expects to finally make his debut for Evo-Stik Northern Premier League leaders North Ferriby United at home to Stafford Rangers on Saturday.

The 29-year-old was snapped up by Villagers manager Billy Heath last month after being released by Conference Premier side Lincoln City. He should have made his first start in midweek for the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division outfit in the Doodson Sport clash with Sheffield but the tie was postponed.

Robson joined the Imps in January 2012, initially on a non-contract basis, making his debut in an FA Trophy tie against Carshalton Athletic 24 hours later.

Robson, who started the 2011-12 season with Newport County, is a former Doncaster Rovers and Charlton Athletic youth who can operate in either full-back positions. The Hull-born defender has spent the majority of his career in the USA, playing for Long Island Rough Riders for a season before enjoying a three-year stint with Crystal Palace Baltimore.
