Disability tournament held at Warrington

WARRINGTON Town’s new 3G pitches at their Cantilever Park ground hosted a disability football tournament for young players from across the town.

Organised by Warrington Wolves Foundation disability co-ordinator Danny O’Brian, the tournament was a great success engaging with 30 participants who took part in a three team tournament. The Wolves Foundation and Warrington Colligate made up the three teams.

The club’s community development officer James Standing said: “It was good to see the participants enjoy playing on a great surface and at the same time, playing some great football. It is a credit to Danny who has organised this tournament and we have provided the perfect venue for them.”

This is the first time the Wolves Foundation and Town have joined up together with a number of other ventures set to take place in the future.

James plans to work with the Wolves Foundation and the town's leading disability charity Warrington Disability Partnership in the future, "providing great results for the community.”

Before the day finished, the sides took part in a try line challenge while Wolves mascot Wolfie was also present to join in the fun.
