Double signing signals intent

Cammell Laird's Tony Sullivan has hailed the signings of Jack Webb and Daly Woods as a 'statement of intent' ahead of the new Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaign.

The First Division North manager moved swiftly for the pair this week, pictured, following the departures of Joe Holt and Aaron Bowen. Webb arrives from Prescot Cables and Woods from Clitheroe.

Attacking midfielder Woods will remembered by Lairds supporters as the man who scored in Clitheroe's 2-1 victory at Shawbridge in March as it ended a four match winning run.

Both players started in the club's pre-season friendly against Tranmere at Kirklands on Monday and Sullivan said: "We watched Jack a couple of times last season and we feel he has a bright future at this level of football and possibly even higher.

"And what a signing Woods is. It's a statement of intent really that we can now attract some of the better players in this division."
