Draw made for next round of cup!

By David Watters

The EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's clubs are running the rule over their opponents in the world's oldest cup competition following the draw for the next round of the FA Cup at Wembley.

Monday lunchtime's draw at the national stadium saw 14 EVO-STIK NPL clubs go into the hat for the Third Qualifying Round. After the winners of the weekend's Second Qualifying Round banked £4500 in prize money, another £7500 will be up for grabs when the ties are played over the weekend of Saturday 10 October.

Two of the EVO-STIK NPL's flag bearers still have work to do in replays on Tuesday night to confirm their berths with Rushall Olympic aiming to overcome Corby Town at home and Marine facing a replay in the North East Washington FC.

Ties involving those already through include Burscough who travel to National League North Harrogate Town and Salford City who host Bradford Park Avenue.

Stourbridge await the winners of Rushall Olympic versus Corby while Chasetown host Stalybridge Celtic and Northwich Victoria will travel to either Marine or Washington in another possible all EVO-STIK NPL tie.

Elsewhere, Bamber Bridge travel to Kettering, Barwell host King's Lynn Town, league newboys Rugby Town head to Brackley Town and Ashton United are preparing for a trip south to take on Rushden & Diamonds.

After knocking Witton Albion out of the cup on Saturday, last season's EVO-STIK NPL champions FC United of Manchester host familiar foes again in Buxton in what looks like the tie of the round on paper.

At the other end of the scale, Spalding United head to Midland League outfit Sporting Khalsa as the only club to have drawn Step 5 opposition.
