Dugout double delights Seadogs boss

Scarborough Athletic manager Rudy Funk is hailing the appointment of veteran players Bryan Hughes and Paul Foot as his new joint assistant-managers at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Seadogs.

The First Division South club say the pair have signed new contracts until 2017 with the Seadogs still in with a slim chance of reaching this season's play-offs and securing a second successive promotion.

Former Birmingham City, Charlton and Hull City midfielder Hughes, 37, joined the Seadogs in 2013 while centre-back Foot, 33, captained North Ferriby United to promotion.

Funk, whose seventh placed side need to beat second place Leek at home on Saturday to keep their play-off hopes alive, believes both will be a success with their experience and attitude.

He said: "This is a massive boost for the club. Paul leads by example on the field with his battling performances and the passion he has for Scarborough Athletic. He has a real desire to succeed and to have someone like that as my assistant is superb.

"Bryan has played at the highest level and has brought so much to the club since he joined us. To have his experience to tap into in the dugout and in the changing room will only help us in the future."
