Duo depart Ashton United

Niall Battersby and Tom Warren have left Ashton United.

A versatile defender, Battersby joined the Robins at the beginning of the current campaign from Atherton Collieries and made 16 appearances for the side.

He suffered a significant injury which has kept him out of action recently, with no clear return to the pitch in sight.

As recently-appointed manager Steve Cunningham continues to shape his squad, a mutual agreement was met seeing Battersby depart Hurst Cross.

Meanwhile, left wing-back Warren joined the Robins in August 2021 and made over a half-century of appearances for the club.

Twenty-two of his 52 outings have been during the current season.

It has been agreed to allow Warren to move onto pastures new in search of regular first team football.
