Because elsewhere, Sheffield had done enough to get the point they needed away at Brighouse Town, winning 2-1 thanks to Luke Rawson’s injury-time strike.

Ossett United finished fifth after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Gresley will go down to step five after they were beaten 3-0 by Pontefract Collieries, meaning Carlton Town survive with a reprieve owing to AFC Mansfield’s resignation, despite their 4-0 defeat to Marske United.

AFC Mansfield finished their season with a 2-1 win at home to Frickley Athletic, which sees them finish in a credible 15th place, while Belper Town and Spalding United finished goalless.

Scott Vernon’s hat-trick fired Cleethorpes Town to a 6-0 win at home to Stamford, Loughborough Dynamo came from behind to beat Pickering Town 5-1 and champions Morpeth Town won 1-0 at Wisbech.
