Key appointments signal step up

EVO-STIK League Marine are stepping up their commercial and media operations with two key appointments.

Environment Agency media officer Dave Mackin is on a mission to broaden their digital presence through the club's website and social media channels while Simon Kenyon has joined the commercial department at the Marine Travel Arena.

Originally from Boston in Lincolnshire, Mackin boasts extensive experience in communications, leading on media relations, social media and creating digital content including video for the Government agency.

Mackin said: "I'm really excited to be joining Marine and can't wait for the season to start. I love football at all levels and I want to combine that with the skills I've acquired in communications over the years.

"My main ambition is to get a YouTube channel up and running where we can host interviews with the manager and players - so watch this space!"

Kenyon hails from Hesketh Bank and arrives with significant experience in the football industry after holding roles at a number of clubs over the last 13 years including being the current chairman of Burscough Dynamo FC.

Already the holder of a Higher Education Diploma in Sports Development, he has just completed a BSC in Sports Business Management and is undertaking a MSc in Sports Marketing from September. Kenyon is being tasked with taking a lead role in increasing sponsorship through pitch side advertising and hopes his experience and studies will prove to be a successful combination for the Mariners.

He said: “I would to thank Marine for offering me this opportunity to work with them. It’s a new and exciting challenge for me and one that I am looking forward too. I will be going out into the community and speaking to businesses about our pitch side sponsorship and other packages and will look to create long term commercial relationships.”

In a statement on Wednesday, hailing the appointments as a "major boost" with the start of 2017-18 campaign around the corner, the EVO-STIK League Premier club's chairman Paul Leary said: “We are very pleased that Dave and Simon have agreed to join Marine. In their own areas they have a wealth of experience that will be a major boost to our existing media and commercial resources.

"Their appointments will compliment what we have currently but through their knowledge and experience they will help take us to another level in the promotion of our football club. They are well timed as we approach the start of a new season and I look forward to Dave and Simon providing that extra resource that will make a real difference in the operation of our business.”
