Carlton Town's slim play-off hopes in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South were extinguished on Wednesday night as they were beaten 2-0 at home by fifth-placed Mickleover Sports, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
At a blustery Stoke Lane, Mickleover always looked the sharper side, and only some fine goalkeeping from home custodian Jonathon Viscosi kept the scoreline goalless before the break.
However, Sports opened the scoring on 49 minutes when Henry Sibenge headed home a Sean Kinsella corner. Victory was sealed 18 minutes from time when recent signing Zeph Thomas converted from the penalty spot after Grant Brindley had fouled ex-Burton Albion favourite Aaron Webster.
