Adams, 19, played youth football at both Bradford City and Oldham, and made his first team debut for the Latics last season.
He caught the eye playing as a trialist in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with FC United at Shawbridge on Bank Holiday Monday.
Manager David Lynch said: “It’s a massive signing for us.
“I think anyone who saw him play for us as a trialist on Monday can see he’s a young, exciting, hungry player – even though he wasn’t fully match fit.
“He does everything you want as a centre-forward. He’s strong, athletic, powerful, with a good attitude and technical ability.
“We’re so excited about it. It’s taken a bit of work, but we’ve got it over the line."
