The Hillmen - North West Counties League champions in 2014-15 and FA Vase finalists the same season - named Craig Jackson as their new commercial guru this week with club riding high in EVO-STIK NPL First Division North and gunning for promotion to the top flight.
Glossop North End Chairman Dave Atkinson, pictured right, with the Glossop-born and bred and chartered engineer Jackson at the Arthur Goldthorpe Stadium, is backing the father-of-two's inside knowledge of the club to help put them on a par with their rivals in the region.
Over the last 11 years Jackson has managed many of the Hillmen's youth sides as well as serving on the committee and Atkinson said: “We think that Glossop can support a thriving football club in the Evostik Northern Premier League. This would put us at the same level as clubs like Buxton, Matlock and Ashton United. We have great support but we need to strengthen the financial and commercial base of the club.”
One of Jackson's sons was a mascot when the Hillmen reached the FA Vase Final for the first time in 2009 and the keen supporter believes his involvement in numerous multi-million pound projects across the North West in the public and private sectors will serve him well.
He said: “As my sons grow up, joining the seniors feels like a natural progression to continue my involvement in the local footballing community. With my business background, I feel sure that I can work with the board, the manager and players, and the supporters to help the club achieve its potential.”
