Mad Pete raises charity funds

Bradford Park Avenue update, by Tim Parker

Bradford Park Avenue supporter Pete Hearn - known by many as Mad Pete - is taking part in a charity fund raising event next Sunday.

He is teaming up with Luton Town supporter Mark Feasey who is the landlord at the Old Ship Inn in Brighouse. Mark is kindly letting Pete and his partner Mary take over the pub on the Sunday during the FestiveAle event. The day is going to be sport themed with many clubs and organisations from around the district getting involved. Already they have Brighouse Town and the Huddersfield Giants on board and are hoping to get many others to take part and support them.

Fund raising is something that Pete has wanted to do ever since the death of his parents within the last few years. The two charities that he has chosen are Overgate Hospice and the Forget Me Not Trust. Both are excellent charities as they support those who suffer from life limiting illnesses.

Already Pete and Mark have taken part in a pre-event where they both scaled the 21 metre wall at the ROKT climbing gym in Brighouse. Their aim of this was to show people that they are "Aiming high, and giving a helping hand to raise money for local charities".

On the Sunday there are going to be many raffle prizes on offer which have been kindly donated by local companies of Brighouse. In addition there is going to be a guess the weight of Pete’s hat and scarf competition. Now for those of you that aren’t aware they are not your average hat and scarf as Pete has decorated them with hundreds of badges from the various clubs he has visited over his years of following Bradford Park Avenue. There will be a special guest at the event as Park Avenue’s very own keeper John Lamb is going to be in attendance to announce the winner of the competition.

Pete, Mary and Mark would love to see as many or our supporters as possible pop down to Old Ship Inn to show their support for two very worthy causes. You can even try Pete’s special own beer that he has had brewed which is a dark mild called appropriately - “Mad Pete”. Don’t forget to wear your Avenue shirt!

Do try to spread the word if you can. It isn’t just a Bradford Park Avenue event so invite all your friends to come along help raise some money.

Pete and Mary would like thank everyone for being so supportive and in particular ROKT for providing them with backing as well as donating one of the prizes.
