Fans favourite Fearon, pictured, collected two out of three of the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club’s recent player of the year accolades after enjoying a second outstanding season for manager Tommy Lawson.
Lawson has nothing but praise for the 27-year-old keeper in a statement revealing he had turned down a number of approaches from elsewhere to stay.
Lawson said: “Brian [assistant manager Brian Richardson] and me are absolutely delighted with the news. Martin was approached by other clubs since the season ended but has turned down their offers to stay at Skelmersdale.
“Having a good goalkeeper is crucial if you are to be among the challengers in any league and Martin is right up there with the best. His attitude is brilliant and his early commitment to the cause says much his great attitude and about the ambitions of the club.”
He added: “It will make it easier for us to persuade other players to join us when they see Martin is already on board.”
Chairman Paul Griffiths told fans that season ticket and turnstile prices were being pegged at last season’s level as a reward for the loyalty they’ve shown over the past couple of years.
Griffiths said: “Although we do desperately need to increase the attendances we get at Stormy Corner, we also have a very loyal support base and at times it is those that we depend on to keep the club going. Generally, money is tight around Skelmersdale as a town, so we have decided to keep entrance and season ticket costs at the same level as last season.
“Call it a kind of reward for their support and to show an appreciation of the way our supporters put themselves out to help the club, especially over the last year or two when we have had to ask them for assistance and the fact that they so willingly responded.”
Skem’s admission prices for next season at Stormy Corner are priced at £9 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for children aged under 16. Adult season tickets are on sale at £180 with concessions priced at £100.
As a bonus, Skem say fans who purchase season tickets early will also gain free admission to their pre-season friendly programme including their upcoming anniversary match with Enfield Town to mark their meeting in the FA Amateur Cup. For more information visit Skem’s website.
