Sollitt, 42, spent the last three seasons with the Gladiators as a coach, having previously made 86 appearances as a player between 2010 and 2012.
He said: “It was too good an opportunity to turn down coaching in a higher league and to develop my career in coaching. But I’d like to say a huge thank you to Matlock Town for the opportunity to develop as a coach in the first place.
"I’ve loved every minute of it and will miss everyone connected with the place. The supporters have been amazing and there are lots of very good people behind the scenes that have become friends and helped me in my time there.
"I’ve no doubt Steve (Kittrick) and Luke (Potter) will do a fantastic job there but this opportunity came around really quickly.”
A former England C international, Sollitt played for Barnsley, Kettering Town, Northampton Town, Rushden & Diamonds, Scarborough and Morecambe.
