The reunion at Darlington's Dolphin Centre at 2pm on Sunday week (November 8) is being organised to celebrate the publication of “Darlo’s on the Up, the story of six successful Darlington FC promotion campaigns”.
Penned by North East sports writer, BBC Tees broadcaster and Quakers fan Ray Simpson, the 256 page book chronicles the club's last six successful promotion campaigns before and after being reformed by supporters.
Covering 1966, 1985, 1990, 1991, 2013 and 2015, Simpson's book is based on contemporary match reports and quotes with managers Lol Morgan, Cyril Knowles, Brian Little and Martin Gray all featuring heavily. There are also recollections from players and fans, as well as dozens of photographs.
The tome is Simpson's second after he wrote "In the Dying Seconds" in 2013, the story of two of the most dramatic years in the life of Darlington FC.
Former and current players and officials attending and looking forward to meeting fans and autograph hunters include John Peverell, Kevan Smith, Jamie Chandler, Sam Russell, Gary Brown, Les McJannet, Gary Coatsworth, Mick Tait, Phil Brumwell, Jim Platt, Andy Collett, Craig Hignett and Craig Liddle
Priced at £12, the book will be available to buy on Sunday and at Quaker Retail. It will also be available online.
Admission to the launch is free with organisers expecting the event to be the biggest at the Dolphin Centre since the Farewell to Feethams celebrations back in 2003.
