Evans plays down clean sheets

Romulus update, by Andy Mitchell

ROMULUS boss Richard Evans played down his side's second clean sheet of the season this week, insisting his charges had been showing good form in recent weeks.

The Roms chalked up their first victory in eight matches by beating form side Loughborough Dynamo 2-0 on Monday night - though with a spate of draws recently, Romulus have also only lost one of their last nine games.

Evans said: "While it's good to get the clean sheet it's not like we've not been playing badly - the only game we've lost in the last nine was against Grantham.

"It's a positive that we've been so hard to beat and consistent lately - we haven't done anything special or different - it's the same side but it's all starting to come together now."

That result followed a 1-1 draw with Brigg Town at the weekend with Evans adding: "A draw was a fair reflection of the game - we were steady again and it was a balanced competitive match like so many are at this level."

The Roms face a tough trip to Hucknall Town this weekend, facing the former Conference North club and FA Trophy finalists managed by Nottingham Forest legend Des Lyttle.

Evans said: "It's a game we're all looking forward to - their a big club with a decent history and heritage.

"They've also got the former Blues defender Michael Johnson involved - it's a very professional set up,but we'll face it the same as we do any other game."

The Roms should have a full squad to choose from other than Richard Evans Jnr who is still out with a knee problem.
