Everall's all fired up

Striker Simon Everall believes he is the man to fire up Nantwich Town's promotion push, writes Ashley Houghton.

New Dabbers frontman Everall, signed from Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division rivals Stafford Rangers this week, insists he's firing on all cylinders and ready to take on the responsibility of leading Jimmy Quinn’s forward line.

He said: "I am absolutely buzzing to join up with Nantwich again. It’s been coming for a while as I’ve got a good relationship with Martin [Stubbs] and Jimmy [Quinn]. I just felt I needed to get away and prove myself at this level, something I feel I have done."

The former Crewe FC man was quick to add his thanks for Stafford's support and is grateful for the opportunity to carry on learning his trade there.

"I think Stafford really helped me," he said. "Playing up front on my own in a 5-4-1 at Stafford meant I had to take responsibility and I couldn’t pass the buck. I worked on my finishing a lot in my time there and I feel I have come back a better finisher who can take more chances."

Everall linked up with his team-mates on Tuesday night before the FA Trophy penalty defeat to AFC Fylde. Although The Dabbers lost out on spot-kicks, fans favourite Everall believes Nantwich can go on to win the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division.

He added: "I thought to myself during the first-half on Tuesday that I've not seen two better sides in this division. I saw how the lads played and the likes of Sean Cooke, Caspar Hughes and Lewis Short were putting lovely through balls in behind which I'd love to get on the end of."
