Nantwich Town helped the Robins raise £408.44 for the victims of the Curzon Road disaster on Tuesday night when the sides met in a 1-1 draw, the social club at Hurst Cross raising £176 to add to £232.44 from a bucket collection among fans.
Former EVO-STIK NPL clubs Curzon Ashton and Darlington 1883 have also joined in efforts after last week's blast which killed local resident John Wilson, the clubs raising £166 when the sides met at the Tameside Stadium on Monday night.
The 63-year-old victim was forced to leap from his bedroom window along with his wife Hazel when a fire broke out at their terraced home in Ashton in the early hours of last Tuesday morning. The tragedy made national headlines after the inferno and huge explosion destroyed the property and badly damaged many others houses nearby, forcing other families from their homes. Flying debris injured 10 people, including those who had rushed to help the Wilsons.
