Fans target magic number

The Hednesford Town Football Club Supporters Association are planning to reach a milestone on Easter Saturday and sign up their 100th member.

The title-chasing Pitmen are taking on Buxton in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier's Premier Division and members of the fans group are being urged to 'bring a friend' to Keys Park to ensure they pass the magic number on Supporters Association Day.

The SA are sponsoring the match ball and say they are looking forward to getting it signed by the teams before handing it over to the new member who takes the organisation into triple figures.

Hednesford's SA is just two years old and officials are inviting fans to join them in the club's Chase Suite from 2pm to meet the group's committee and members while helping themselves to complimentary tea or coffee and a bite to eat.

Joint-Chairman Scott Smith believes the fresh recruitment drive will see their membership continue to grow with nearly a quarter of the Pitmen's regular matchday fans now members.

He said: "It really is great news that we are so close to our 100th member. A lot of people have put a lot of hard work in to grow the SA from its initial inception and I believe that we now offer the opportunity for supporters to get involved with the club in any way they can.

"Saturday's day, where members can meet with the Committee to discuss how we can better represent their interests as supporters, will hopefully see us reach the 100 mark and see that person receive the signed match ball."
