EVO-STIK League Nantwich Town are hoping fans attending Saturday’s friendly with neighbours Crewe Alexandra will dig deep for a local hospital's new fundraising appeal.

The Dabbers are taking on the League One side in a 3pm kick at the Weaver Stadium and have announced that staff and volunteers from the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity will be at the game raising funds for new equipment at Leighton Hospital with the purchase of an additional MRI Scanner their number one target.

The Premier Division club’s officials say they will also be giving out information to raise awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation after offering their support to the appeal.

Dame Patricia Bacon, Non-Executive Director for Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Organ and tissue donation is the most generous gift of all and it changes, and saves, lives. This week is National Transplant week so there is no better time to make this decision.

"We invite you to visit us at the match for some more information and the chance to join the register. It can be a good idea to share your decision with your friends and family, to let them know your wishes and why you feel it is important."

Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, which raises money to enhance facilities and to improve patient experience, recently raised £1.8m to create a new neonatal unit at Leighton Hospital and are hoping their latest appeal will be as successful.

The charity’s fundraising manager Laura Riddle said: "We hope fans will give generously to our collection to fund new equipment that can make a real difference to our patients."
