Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Witton Albion are teaming up with Macmillan Cancer Support on Saturday to raise awareness of the charity and boost funding for its work in the community.

With FC United of Manchester their visitors in the FA Trophy's Preliminary Round and a big crowd expected, the Premier Division club are hosting a number of events including bucket collections among both sets of fans.

Two Albion supporter will be leading the fundraising efforts. Martin Chesworth, who is battling cancer himself, will be selling commemorative mugs to mark the occasion and his wife Gwyneth is being sponsored to have her hair shaved off on their social club's stage after the game.

Macmillan representative Sarah Page will also be the guest of honour at the Help For Heroes Stadium and officials are hoping supporters from both sides will dig deep to support such a worthwhile cause.

A Witton Albion spokesman said: "We are delighted to be able to support Macmillan in this way, albeit in such sad circumstances. Martin is a long standing fan and we should all be humbled by the battle he continues to fight."
