Farsley out to cut gap at the top

By James Gordon

Farsley Celtic can move within a point of EVO-STIK League Premier Division leaders Warrington Town with a win over Workington tonight (Tuesday).

Two defeats in their last three has seen the Yorkshiremen lose ground on the Yellows, and currently sit four points adrift ahead of this game in hand.

Manager Adam Lakeland told the club’s official website: “The great thing about football is you’ve always got another game to get back on the bike.

“Workington now becomes a massive game for us, as they all are, and we were disappointed to lose on Saturday but we have no entitlement to win any game of football.”

Farsley were beaten 2-0 at Lancaster City on Saturday, and lost to Witton Albion the previous week.

A 4-0 home win over North Ferriby United was sandwiched in between, and they haven’t lost back-to-back games since September.

As well as that game at Throstle Nest, there is one other game in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division tonight as Buxton host Nantwich Town.

There are three games in the West Division, including the free entry game between Droylsden and Glossop North End, which was abandoned due to floodlight failure earlier in the season.

Leek Town host Kidsgrove Athletic and bottom club Skelmersdale United welcome Kendal Town.

Several NPL clubs are also in county cup semi-final action.
