Lancaster optimistic for future

By James Gordon

Lancaster boss Mark Fell says the future is bright for the Dolly Blues after their fine win over title-chasing Farsley Celtic at the weekend.

Second half goals from Charlie Bailey and Matthew Blinkhorn fired Lancaster to victory, a result which lifts them up to 14th in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division table.

After losing 8 of their first 11 games of the season, they have lost just six of the next 23 under Fell.

During that run, as well as beating Farsley, they have held both Warrington Town and South Shields to draws.

Fell told the club’s official website after Saturday’s victory: "We've seen that kind of performance, the issue for us is that it's not always consistently like that.

"When South Shields came here and they robbed us of two points. We're great against them sides. We've excellent performances in against those up there."

"You can't help but look to next season and think, if we do that against these teams, then we might not be a million miles away and that's where, ultimately, we want to go.

"From that perspective I think it sends out a good message to the rest of the league in terms of what we're about and how dangerous we can be."

Lancaster are in their first season back in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division having won promotion last campaign.
