EVO-STIK League Mossley AFC are aiming to reach the highest rung of the Football Association’s Charter Standard ladder after announcing a merger with neighbours Mossley Athletic Junior Football Club and the formation of a new ladies side.

From next season, their neighbours’ U7s, U8s, U10s and U12s teams will play under the ‘Mossley AFC' banner along with the new women’s side which is being set up with the help of a ‘Growing the Game' grant from the Football Foundation.

The junior teams will be overseen by Mossley Athletic JFC founder Richard Vink while former Mossley Athletic JFC man Ryan Smith is taking charge of the new ladies set-up. Vink is pictured with Mossley AFC director John Larner and a number of junior players after the merger's official launch this week.

Proud officials at the ambitious Lilywhites, who've already earned FA Charter Standard Club status, hope their expansion will now help the First Division North club achieve the FA's Charter Standard Community Club level.

As well as offering a clearer pathway for players, coaches and volunteers to progress, they believe the merger will benefit the community as a whole with the larger club more easily able to organise a multitude of different events and activities at their Seel Park home.

Club Secretary Harry Hulmes said: "The club are delighted to bring the junior and ladies teams on board to play as part of the town football club. We are confident this new partnership will be a great step forward not only for players of all abilities but for the town as a whole".
