Fell: Winger is well worth the wait

Ramsbottom United manager Mark Fell believes his fourth signing of the summer will be well worth the wait when the 2017-18 EVO-STIK League campaign kicks off.

After taking over a month to make Ben Richardson his second signing from Glossop North End, the Rams boss hailed the 28-year-old winger after he chose to follow Eddie Moran from the Hillmen to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium.

Fell, who's also snapped up Greg Daniels from FC United of Manchester and Nathan Webb from Accrington Stanley, is pictured alongside Richardson who hit double figures last term and numerous assists in EVO-STIK League North including three against the Rams.

The Manchester-based school teacher, who is expected to make his debut at home to Accrington on July 11, was in demand over the summer after announcing his Glossop departure and Fell fended off suitors from the EVO-STIK League Premier for his signature.

In a statement welcoming the attacker into his squad, the Rams boss said: "He was a key target for us. We sat down with him over a month ago and although in the end it’s taken a bit of doing, Ben has impressed me with his professional approach. He's a top player in this league and an excellent character off the pitch."
