Skelmersdale United manager Tommy Lawson believes new striker Chris Simm can play a key role in the run-in to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaign, writes Neil Leatherbarrow.
The 29-year-old, pictured, joined Lawson’s promotion hunting squad on Thursday night after his release from Witton Albion.
Simm, well known locally for his 19 goals in a Southport shirt, kicked off his career as a Wrexham trainee before moving on to Leigh and Hyde United where he netted 39 goals in two seasons.
After Southport, the frontman moved on to Chorley and Chester before his 21 goals in 30 appearances for Bangor last season saw him finish as the second highest scorer in the Welsh Premier League.
Simm is in contention to make the trip to Ilkeston on Saturday and Lawson said: "We have signed a player who has scored goals everywhere he has played, he is an experienced addition to the squad and is still only 29. I am really looking forward to having him at Skelmersdale."
